Get to Know Dr. Melissa Bailey
Dr. Bailey's path to orthodontics started unexpectedly. She was already in dental school when she began her own orthodontic treatment. That firsthand experience sparked her curiosity, and the deeper she explored the field, the more passionate she became about it.
Dr. Bailey completed her undergraduate education at UCLA, earning dual degrees in piano performance and business administration. She continued on at UCLA for dental school, where her academic excellence earned her an invitation to join the prestigious Omicron Kappa Upsilon National Dental Honor Society. During her time there, she also took on leadership roles, coordinating grants and helping run a clinic serving underprivileged children. This work that earned her the Outstanding Senior Award from the California Dental Association.
Following dental school, Dr. Bailey pursued advanced training in orthodontics and dentofacial orthopedics at Loma Linda University in Southern California. She's an active member of the American Dental Association and remains committed to continuing education, staying current on emerging orthodontic techniques. Clear aligner therapy is a particular area of interest for her, and she even created an app, TrayMinder®, to help her patients stay consistent with their aligner treatment.
Reflecting her expertise, Dr. Bailey holds board certification from the American Board of Orthodontics (ABO), a distinction awarded only after a rigorous evaluation of both written knowledge and clinical skill by leading professionals in the field, and is globally recognized as a mark of excellence in orthodontic care. Her insights have been featured in outlets like ABC News and Dentistry IQ, and her innovative approach to problem-solving earned her a spot on Forbes' Next 1,000 Aspiring Entrepreneurs list in 2021.
