Get to Know Dr. Dorothy Nelson
Dr. Dorothy Nelson is a Board-Certified pediatric dentist who received her undergraduate and dental degrees at the University of Washington. Shortly after, she completed her specialty training at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital and Medical Center, a program heavily focused on the management of children with special healthcare needs in a hospital setting.
Dr. Dorothy has always been interested in working collaboratively across medicine and dentistry since her training in Cincinnati, and she brings that skill into private practice. She has since been privileged enough to also teach as a professor at the University of Washington in the Department of Pediatric Dentistry before her recent move to California with her family.
Today, Dr. Dorothy has many special interests, but one of her biggest focuses is implementing an oral wellness approach to her care philosophy that goes beyond the teeth. She believes pediatric dentists have an incredible opportunity to provide support to families beyond the management of cavities. You may find yourselves discussing your child’s birth history, feeding history, sleeping history, and so much more when Dr. Dorothy meets your family!
